STEP UP TO THE PLATE…YOUR DINNER PLATE…

One woman’s challenge to America…

A new documentary has recently been released focused on the local food movement…

Lynn Gillespie, executive producer of Locavore: Local Diet, Healthy Planet is challenging all Americans to step up to the plate…their dinner plate that is…

Lynn produced the Locavore movie to bring awareness to the local food movement…She states that it’s our duty as Americans to support our local economies, to take part in the health and wellness of ourselves as well as the health of our future generations…

The American diet is one of the most unhealthy diets in the world, claims Lynn,

Americans eat more processed foods than most other countries…Import more foods that are not inspected…Ingest pesticides on a daily basis and than wonder why they’re sick, overweight, zapped of energy and just down right tired…

But if you’re ready to turn all of that around, asks Lynn, than I have a challenge for you…

Eat locally grown and raised foods…foods that come from within 100 mile radius of your home and join the local food movement…this may not be as convenient as going to the corner grocery store, it may not be as inexpensive as shopping at a large food club, but the benefits will outweigh the risks…

Her pledge is that you’ll feel better, you’ll have more energy, and you won’t feel sluggish or tired because your nutritional values will have soared by eating more nutritionally dense foods which also means you’ll eat less…

So if you’re ready to take the challenge…than step up to the plate…your dinner plate and join the local food movement…Because every dollar spent locally will generate up to 6 times as much income for the “local” economy…

If everyone would eat one meal a week from a local source we could save over 50 MILLION barrels of oil per year. (Barbara Kingsolver)
